Need some advice - there are some horses in a field near me and one of them has taken a chunk out of it's leg - maybe two fingers worth and this is hanging off. It looks to be a couple of days old (the injury). The horses don't seem to be checked very often (and feet are not kept trimmed). I don''t know who owns them and have never seen anyone there. Although there are lots of big carrot netting bags lying around and I have seen hay in the field - so someone is going there - just never when I'm around and not very often (once a week maybe).
Basically my question is: What can I do to help this horse - it really needs it's leg seem to - can the RSPCA do something?

phone ILPH/HAPPA/ RSPCA/Police- anyone to try to get help to the horse- the owners are committing an offence by not getting necessary care to the horse so all the above have an obligation to do something.- good luck

Thanks for advice re RSPCA and ILPH.
Good news is that I went today and saw someone near horses - they said that they knew owner and that he had been to see horses yesterday evening. Today injured horse was not there so they said that they 'thought' the owner had probably taken him away.
Let's hope that horse is now getting the treatment it needed.

Hmmm I wish I was confident.......... Don't like the sound of it at all, and I would still contact ILPH. No harm in it is there? They will at least check the others out to make sure they aren't injured or malnourished. Bl**dy scandalous.
