I know someone who's got one. She says its brilliant! Her horse is really round and has practically no withers (not sure if thats just his shape or if its because he's fat) but the girth really seems to suit him and he appears to move much more freely now than he did before when his girth was all crinkles and shoved half way up his armpits.
I agree that £145 for a girth is very expensive (especially since I thought Faith's aerborn - i think - one was expensive at about £23!!!) but then again this same person has just forked out £1600ish for a new WOW saddle so in comparison £145 is mere pennies!!
Although her new saddle seems to suit F well, its actually really wuite ugly to look at and not what I'd expect for £1600! Ok, so it has all sorts of gadgets and gismos with special pumpy-uppy-air thingies and special no-flaps-for-stirrups and stuff, but if it doesn't look good then I don't like it. (that makes me sound really shallow, I know, but if you could see the thing...its ugly!!!!)

it would be cheaper and do the same job as my mate did and had the front girth strap moved further forward and higher on his saddle , seemed to do the same job just £120 cheaper

AJ is very wide with very low withers - his saddle is 11 1/2" D-D ring, it has 4 girth straps the front (point strap) is very far forward. I spoke to my saddle fitter about the H girth and she hadn't seen one but she swears by the Jaguar girths which are also VERY expensive but are very good at stopping saddles on wide horses slipping forwards Zx

iSox is the typical barrel shape and saddles do slip a bit if she makes some sort of jolty movement, so i was interested in these, but they are expensive.
i like the way you dont have to tighten the girth as much and they seem to look more comfortable for the horse though?

Stubben string girth- someone on here recommended it and it worked really well on Harry - at a fraction of the cost! I saw the advert on H&C but coulnt BELIEVE the price- frankly ridiculous. There'll be a cheaper alternative in no time...

I saw the article on them in one magazine and I thought perfect just what Chompy needs (he already has a point strap on his saddle but it can still roll around him quite easily)... but then I saw the price.
I'm with ceej and waiting for that cheaper alternative.

how do the string girths actually work?
i know they probably dont, but i get images of skin pinched between the strings?! and pressure points where there are breaks in the strings?

I thought the same but they are meant to be kinder than most girths...they are pretty thick - bout 5" I guess - thicker than a usual girth. They dont loosen or stretch so that shouldnt happen (plus they are held together ina couple of places accross the middle (hard to explain!) and the theory is that the girth as a whole is flexible because they are made up with lots of strings. Harry is quite 'cold girthed' best way I can describe it, but he is fine with the string girth - it doesnt seem to have to be doen up so tight as others either...it doesnt seem to pinch - the strings are thick and lie close together.... if you google them they have featured on many sites as good for anti-slip.. www.stubbendirect.co.uk/stubben-trevira-cord-girth-p-195.html
