[Have I already told you this? Somewhere else? Hmm...seems familiar. Oh well, you can hear it again if I've already said it elsewhere]
We went in the woods yesterday. First time since we moved, and the first time in about a month!
We decided to try a new bridleway we'd discovered on the way back from Robinsons on saturday (tee hee, I've got a yellow shovel!), much to our disappointment because it was a really bendy fast road we had to unload on (not the best idea), then the path turned out to be really steep, narrow and too rocky so that Faith kept on nearly slipping - forced us to retreat back to the trailer and persuade my dad to take us to the woods instead.
Faith reloaded fine and we were soon on our way.
Got to the woods, followed our favourite path - over the troll bridge (Faith was adement the troll would eat her, although reassurance from my part got her over it ("Trolls eat goats, not horses")), round lots of bends, got a bit lost and ended up on a footpath instead of bridleway (I did wonder why all these dogs were on a bridleway...oopsie!), before turning round and heading back.
Once past the dogs, I thought I'd get Faith trotting and see how far she'd go before giving up (in the school she'll do the maximum of one lap and then refuse to do anything else) but she set off at a lovely steady pace (all those weeks of "steady" and "whoa" really came in handy then) and just kept on going!
I was fine jogging along next to her (admiring the view whilst going up and down slopes, round corners, over the troll bridge (which she crosses fine in the opposite direction, or at the trot) etc) but my poor sister was knackered by the time we were done. I think she'd half expected us to just have a short blast and then stopped to let her catch up...oh no! We must have trotted for the best part of a mile, which might not sound much, but for Faith (and me) that's a long way!
When we decided to walk again (Chloe's choice not ours. Bless her, she could hardly walk she was that tired. Faith and me could've kept on for a little while longer) we were all sweating like mad but we each had a smile on our face (well, ok. Faith didn't, but if she could smile, she would have had one. You could just tell by looking at her that she was enjoying herself). We walked for the last 1/4 of the track, back to the trailer to go home.
Normally, Faith is good loader, but I think she was too hot yesterday because she dived out sideways twice before finally going in and standing still.
Got back to the stables and she was just like "Oh, I'm home". Gave her a much needed sponge-down before letting her out with her buddies.
All in all, a good morning andit will most definitley be repeated next sunday! (not sure if my dad knows this yet, but that's what's happening!)
