in-hand obviously (hopefully not too long now though before we can ride again) but it was great fun! We were only out for about 10 mins as we're still exploring and didn't want to get too lost 'cos we were by ourselves, but it could have been hours for all the fun we had!
We went for a wander on this path that a friend showed me the other day - just round the back of the main field, down in-between some other fields, leading down to a road then some more paths and I think a big field at the bottom (for a gallop!).
Anyway, you have to undo this bit of rope that is used as a 'gate', which we've never come across before, but did that fine. Toddled along some rocky ground, past some strange horses, over a lot of muddy patches (she was so sensible and really looked after me and didn't let me get stuck in the mud!), past loads of electric fencing - remembering to stay away because it can zap you - and through a few narrow gaps with some quite tight bends in them (proper lady is Faith (that is terrible english isn't it?...I do apologise) and slowed right down to let me go first, not pushing and shoving her way past, and she appeared to just be taking in the view!).
We had a lovely trot up a little hill, down the hill, round the corner, over some grass, past some more horses and no silliness! She's so clever. We then walked to the bottom of the path (just before the road), turned round and headed home. Faith decided she still wanted to trot (not pulling off, but she just gave me that 'look') so off we went again. Back up the hill, down the other side, had to walk through the narrow bit and over the mud, but trotted back to the rope 'gate' and into the outdoor school. Did a few laps in walk before popping over a small crosspole that someone had left up, practised a few trot-halt transitions (attempted to stop with our toes touching a ground pole...almost worked. We got as far as heels touching the other side, before giving up because it was just too hot).
Went back onto the yard for a cool water sponge down and some tea.
I think Faith enjoyed it about as much as I did! (Oh, I haven't told you lot about our trip into the woods yesterday...oooh, exciting. Will make a post now)
- I did think of taking pictures, but my phone was bing silly and wouldn't let me save any of them, but they were there, honest! -
