Went out to the field this morning and couldnt get her caught - that was fun - rattled an empty bucket at her and she took a peek in and was off like a shot. Then mum managed to get her caught so was a bit peeved at that. So brought her in and gave her a brush.
Anyway, got the car packed etc etc and got her tail bandage on and boxed her up - it was quite hot in the box actually. Went on with no probs as usual
Aunt and cousin were in the field tacking the horses up and we offloaded Princess and got her tacked up and stuck some fly spray on but auntie didnt want it on her horses - says she doesnt like the smell of it which i thought was a bit silly - could she not ignore it (i didnt mind it, it was lemony) for the sake of the horse?
Anyway, mounted up - Princess stood like a rock and didnt try to walk off after the others which was good. Then set off - she must like being in front but then again so does the 12.2hh - she tried to keep up and overtake but gave up after a while - she doesnt get ridden very much so got a bit pooped - all the mares tolerated each other very well - usually the 12.2hh squeals when she meets other ponies and is very dominant but she just left Princess alone after giving her a sniff. Met quite a few tractors - stood like a rock with a tractor and trailer and a digger passing her on a country road with her in a gateway just watching them - other horses just ignored the tractor and trailer too.
Did spook a few times by mum scuffing her foot on the gravel (made her jump ) or something moving suddenly. But mostly she was fine - stopped off for a chat and a drink at neighbours and they all stood very well with a dog running about and small children.
So had a good hack - planning on getting them to box over to my house to go on the lovely 2hr offroad mainly hack - and also had a lovely idea of boxing up (they would have to borrow neighbours box) and going to some country park or forest park for a hack and then having a barbecue or a picnic whilst the horses either grazed by the horseboxes or stood in the boxes with a big haynet. Dont know if that would happen - as she says she doesnt fancy driving to someplace far away - all the hassle etc but i think it would be great and totally worth it!
