Its just getting better and better!
Went out for a lovely hack on Princess today again. Was really hot so we just walked the whole way round. We crossed the main road then went up through a field (sort of a track up the middle; supposed to be a public footpath) then crossed a road and went up the bridle path with the farm at the end and there was gates and ropes and whatnot to get untied - glad mum was there haha! Then turned and walked down another road for a bit more and went down a lane that has houses on it which leads to another grassy track ('public footpath') which was so amazing to ride on - never been on that one before! - and then out onto another road and back down the quiet road and along the main road.
Only spooked twice and pranced twice - birds and dogs and then pranced at a pony in a field and the stallion on the main road.
But wasnt as bad - she was probably a bit tired as there was quite a few hills and im glad we just walked otherwise she would have been exhausted.
Then went up into the yard and got off and led her up through into the field and mounted - she stood well - and walked and then felt brave enough to trot (had to actually push her on) and even had a short canter in both directions and she slowed down by my voice. Only did a few laps as it was hot and she had already done a big trek.
So she was good and nice and steady in the field and didnt get excited but she was probably tired - next challenge will be to ride her straight into the field with out a hack!
Came away with a big smile! ;D
So tomorrow im going on a hack with my auntie and cousin -
aunt has a big 16.2hh IDxTB grey mare 10/11yrs big dope and really lazy even in the field but that might be to do with poor conformation - can be a bit freaky from time to time specially in the stable, being tied up and being left alone and can also be quite strong. But yeah she is a big pet and aunt loves her to bits.
Also cousin has a 12.2hh bay mare bout 17/18yrs not sure what breed but can live on fresh air and is so hardy - fat all year round - lami prone - doesnt get much work as she is a right madam - not too bad on the road but nappy in field and school.
And a 13.2hh piebald cob gelding 16yrs a right wimp but totally bombproof and good jumper - hardly ever refuses has done SJ, Dressage, and even tacked working hunter but wasnt fit enough plus ground was bad so didnt turn out too well.
but cob has lost shoe, so it will be just the ladies out tomorrow! hehe
