I got mine from local camping shop. Cant remember name but is in blue metal tin, used for waterproofing tents but work great on rugs. Weren't more than £10 and I only used less than a quater on Ferns rug.

Buy a new rug....works out cheaper as the reproofers never work in my experience...one heavy shower and they are soaked again

My aim for this winter is to use mainly lite rugs (no fill). I want the boys to have to keep themselves warm (having read in depth about natives/cobs needing to lose weight over the winter by having to keep warm so that they can put weight on in the spring without geting laminitis (natural cycle of weight) although I will use fill at night and if its really vile, but we dont even get frost down here so I personally think I normally rug them far more than necessary and as long as they are dry they shoudl be fine..Anyway, bit off topic...I am getting both boys new lite rugs but need to keept he ones I have as spares as they dont always dry in time..cant afford four new ones!

Nikwax is good but you have to use it in the wash.

I used the spray on stuff in the green can with white lettering. Is it Dales wax or something like that? Was good for the odd leak. My OH bought some paint on stuff which he has just painted onto my blue waterproof trousers. DISASTER! My trousers are now kind of white with swirly patterns and feel disgusting. He says 'oh just take them outside and shake them, then wear them'. WHAT? I wouldn't be seen dead in them - even the horses will laugh!
