Got to share my fantastic ride with someone.....We (Harry's rider not OH) found the most amazing path today as we went exploring a part of the woods we haven't ventured into before........this path was about 20ft plus wide between the trees, dead straight, on a slight incline and best of all grassy.....in all intent and purposes it looked just like a purpose built gallop...well it was just too much We decided it would be rude not to have a canter when the path was so welcoming and this became rather fast shall we say ;D Then both boys slowed and trotted for a min as knackered but then got their second wind and shot off like bullets without much persusian from us. For about 10/12 strides I didn't think Murph was going to listen and steady...but he did. It's ages since I had such an adrenalin rush and the first time my boys have ever been faster than a steady canter so I am needless to say delighted and will be buzzing for days. I didn't think lazy old Murph had it in him! To top it off he jumped a diddy diddy log (admitedly from a standstill but he jumped!) which considering I have yet to teach him to jump was (very stupid I was still high on the adrenalin rush) and rather a feat in itself. He thought I was mad trying to trot towards it, slowed to a walk, cautiously stopped and then popped over and rewarded his bravado with a huge buck ;D

Your ride sounds fab - it is such an amazing feeling galloping on a horse, nothing can beat it and I can't wait for me and A to be able to really let rip Zx

Aww glad you had a great time, theres 2 paths in the woods i always go into which are rather long and straight for a good gallop! ;D
Im yet to go into B'worth bottoms though! Was it Clumber where you went into? (I want to box up and go to there as its gorgeous in there, and so many logs to pop over!!!)

Sounds wonderful I would love that so much. I really miss a good gallop. ONly have roads alas. A grassy path through the woods - heaven!! I couldn't even ride today as I'm completely dosed with chest infection etc. Meant to rest but couldn't stay in the house so I went out to see the boys and groomed them and washed their tails and even that cheered me up, it was really lovely in the sun, birds singing, fresh leaves on trees, my dog going crazy - happiness! Hopefully I'll be better tomorrow and can ride. Forecast good for rest of weekend. Am delighted for you Haffy- after all the work you did on this site. ANd I agree with you, I often feel really sorry for people who have never ridden a horse.

Well done Haffy, sounds a perfect hack. It's times like that that keep you going when it gets tough. Totally agree, people who have never ridden don't know what they are missing!

Clumber Park is that where you are talking about? We were going to box up and go there as its only half hour away, but it says in their literature that you cannot go faster than a trot. That put us off a bit. Nothing like a good gallop in the woods eh?

their houses must be pristene, and they probably spend all their time and money shopping!
Both woods are about 15/20mins drive from Clumber.

Thanks Maes, will do. Do the paths go on for miles, are they worth travelling far for?

Ooh, a grassy gallop! What bliss! You must have been so proud of your boys! I always wonder what non-horsey people spend their money on ...?

And what DO they do will all thaty extra time and money? Honestly, they wouldn't know what's hit them if you asked them to get up and turn out a horse at the crack of dawn, muck out before going to work/college and then rush home, get changed and spend all day smelling just the tincey-ist bit of horse.....mmmmm *grins and imagines horsey smells*
Sounds like you had fun haffy...we really should all (or most) attempt to meet up one day and go out for a fab hack. Don't you think that would be fun?!
