I have never ridden a Novice Test, how different are they from Prelims and does anyone have a test sheet for Test 27 so I can have a look before deciding whether or not to enter.

Em, I think you have to show lengthened strides and a few other things, its gonna be mainly regular walk, trot and canter with some other things thrown in, not sure what as i havent seen a novice test sheet before.

Judge is looking for a more raised outline with better self carriage and balance than in prelim.
there will be more lengthed strides moving towards medium work in the walk and they are looking for longer outline and stretched more in the free walk.
some have 3 loop serpentines and 5 meter loops. I cant remember off the top of my head what 27 has and all my horse books are still in boxes in the loft.
basically the judge wants to see that higher level of training and more consistancy in the outline. better engagement etc

With my old horse I used to do the prelim as warm up and treat the novice as the prelim, that way you dont make a big thing out of it- but its a while since Ive done competition dressage so Im not sure they are structured like that now. Got that all to come again! So let us know how it goes as Im soooo out of date
