Anyone know who offers the best deals? (just to save me having to go and have a look). And what do you have to take with you when you open a bank account? - proof of ID (birth certificate), proof of address (letter) and I'm sure there's something else...

your student loan comes from a company called the student loan company! as for bank accounts you may need to hunt around but i think it may be Halifax at the moment but i am not sure. Natwest offer a free railcard but their overdrafts aren't as good!
hope this is of some use xx

Eeek! I know the feeling, except I'm not even sure when I move into uni, just that I am and that when I do I just KNOW I'll have left something really important behind (like my phone charger or something! Or Faith's saddle...I swear it will be her saddle now I've said that). I can't wait to go but at the same time I'm kind of scared. I am taking my horsey with me though so that should be better (although she might have to come a week or two after I do because of the whole 'lurgy' thing...), and my laptop, but my room doesn't have internet so no forum all day everyday .... I guess I'll just have to go in the library and use their computers (besides, it's a good excuse to get me in the library! You never know, I might even manage some work in there!)

They like you to have photo ID - passport or drivers licence. Take a look at the link below for student banking. As it says, banks have not yet published their deals, but if you subscribe to this newsletter it will give you a comparison of them all when they are. It's a very good website. www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/Student-bank-account
