had a jump today with one of the YM daughters and the other one(my on off instructor) was watching cue me suddenly not being able to ride because they are watching me now tabs can jump i mean like 3ft 3 easily and she is honest and will 9 times out of 10 jump anything ;D but... at 100mph to everything whether its 2ft 4 or or 3 ft its only higher than that when she slows down slightly instructor watched me pop over a small x pole and said to do the grid as tabs went in too quick i said no because after i fell off a few weeks ago in the middle of a grid i find i freeze everytime i go towards one so i suggested i would have some lessons to get my confidence up and she said that we would have to go back to basics as tabs has only ever been taught to jump as fast as poss so im worried that after so many months not jumping i will have lost all the confidence i have built up and it will take twice as long as tabs is older and a bit set in her ways i know it will be great in the long run but i do love jumping gonna really work on her flatwork and do a bit of dressage and work over poles then build them up over the winter just hope i wont have lost all my confidence

once you get back into it your prob find it all comes back quickly , i had a bad fall over a ditch once and for ages i wouldnt jump one at all , and if i met one on a hack would go miles to find a way round it , but when i started eventing masha for the first one i was petrified, but once id done it all the confidence came back
love the new siggy

Take heart! It sounds like the very best thing for both of you. Back to basics will rebuild your confidence and help remind Tabs that 100mph is not good, she needs to collect and get that back end working properly. We do a lot of it here: if a horse is rushing, we take the jumps right down again and get them thinking about grids etc. Good luck - I reckon you'll enjoy yourself loads!

back to basics will develop both you and your horse and will make both of you more athletic and supple.
a horse which rushes is dangerous and she needs to learn to work in a steady rhythym and to jump out of that rhythym before she and you have an accident.
most horses can jump height but jumping it correctly and safer will win more rosettes at the end of the day as well as ensuring your safety.
