Brig had the idea for me to do an intensive holiday/course at a regional training centre to gain more 24/7 experience - I don't know of any nearby me in the NW of N.Ireland - Even Rep.Of Ireland would be good. Does anyone know of any or have you even been to any ? I might even be able to take danny

Great idea- any tourist office in the republic would have booklets about equestrian holidays and you'll find loads on the web. I think there are in few (from memory Galway) where you can take your own horse. I was recommended one in WIcklow too but can't remember the name. I know Castlie Leslie in Monaghan is considered very good. You can take your own horse. I think its pricey but looks lovely on their web site. Make out a load of questions and email them or ring with them to everyone. And bring along a friend so you'll have good crack in the evenings

what type of course do you want to do? there is a place near us called learning to listen that do weekly courses in natural horsemanship but they are really pricey. i would love to do it but i skint i think you have to find your own accommodation as well.

Looking for somewhere quite near to home in N.Ireland if at all possible - then I might be able to take 'Danny'. Seen the heavy horse link for Yorkshire by maximum and it looked lovely. Don't really have a lot of cash but even a 3/4 day break would be good. Looked at Castle Lesley in Monaghan - it's really expensive and I'm not sure if they would be as basic as I would require. Anymore suggestions folks?

What about taking Danny to a BHS Ireland Summer Camp at Necarne?? There is either Necarne or Kilkenny and am thinking Necarne would be nearest!! haha! Here is a link: www.bhsireland.com/summercamps.asp

Thanks for the Necarne link - had thought of that previously but isn't that for really experienced riders? It mentions on the web link that you have to be a bhs gold member etc:, it all sounded a bit too advanced. I would love to be proved wrong because it would be ideal.

Yes a riding holiday with tutition and horse care possibly. Seen a wee article in YH Mag re: Wales and it looked good for novice rider but a bit far to travel to - would prefer somewhere nearer home - some where in N.Ireland or the North of Ireland really.
