I have just got my new horse over from ireland, had her here for 10 days to get to know here and got her vetted today.
She hasn't passed, but she hasn't failed either. The vet has picked up "something" with her right hind leg he said there is no difference in muscle tone, no heat, very slight swelling on the digital flexor tendon on her hock and only if you look really hard, but when riding on a circle in the school he could see that she was dragging her toe slightly. Now I had a lesson on her on Wednesday and my instructor couldn't see anything (I've checked).
The vet is coming back on Wednesday to have another look to see if it is something she has tweaked in the field and to give her the benefit of the doubt.
Now I have tried so many unsuitable horses in the last year since Figaro died, this is the first one I have really liked, we have just clicked straight away and I wanted her to pass with flying colours. I just want to cry... I really thought my luck had changed for the better this year.
Keep your fingers crossed for me

Hi, its a horrible time isnt it -waiting for a diagnosis, but at least the vet has spotted it and youll know for sure that she is ok once he has checked it out, imagine if he hadnt spotted it- which is possible as its so slight and then something materialises afterwards. At least this way you can make an informed decision based on what you know about her already. and the chances are it is just a bump or a bruise. I was convinced mine had done his suspensory ligament the other week and it was only a bang because he'd been messing with a another horse over the fence, but if he had been vetted at that time he would have failed. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I hope everything goes well. Mind you, a vet can fail a horse for a very minor thing that never causes any bother so it doesn't automatically mean that the horse won't be suitable. Good Luck- I can imagine how disappointing this is

Really gutted, today she has gone very lame, she has been out in the field all morning, no pratting about, all I have done is walk her in straight lines (once on a hack and twice in the school) and by today the problem has gone from subtle to completely glaringly obvious.
So the vet has failed her in no uncertain terms.
