Dress help needed now!

Right Ladies,



I need advice and I need it NOW! As ever, in my very organised fashion, I have suddenly realised that May has come around rather faster than I would have liked and it is a mates wedding next weekend (YAY!) but I have not even barely considered what to wear (oh god!). So a last minute dress run was performed round a rather wet Covent Garden the other night and I am now stuck for choice – so ladies I want advice as to what dress to buy! So sorry if you have loads of work to do, but I am a friend in distress and need help!



This dress is AMAZING on but is rather unusual (you will either love it or hate it) and far, far too short (i.e. so short that I can not bend over with out displaying everything that god gave me!) BUT it does have room to drop the hem by about 2/3 inches which would make it just about decent but still bloody short – however, I do love it and went WoW when I put it on…………….

This dress is nice – makes my waist look small and my boobs look huge but I think it may be a bit too much of a thingytail dress for a wedding and it is black – I suppose I could add some v bright heels, bag and shawl….NOTE – the dress shown here is a horrid colour which looked rubbish but it is the identical dress but in black – se your imagination!

This dress on the other hand is quite nice, and if I were to be honest, the sensible choice – it is much cheaper, needs no work on it and could be used again far more often – however, when I put it on, I did not fall in love with it and think, yes, yes, yes instead I went hmmm, this is nice and would do…..

I think the 1st one is great (but one I would never be able to get away with) but go for it if you feel confident I also Like Kateflashy's one too

OMG definately see why you fell for the first one! i love it and may have to purchase! BUT flashing ones gusset is not too ladylike at the best of times let alone at a wedding plus would you want to pay all that money for a dress then alter it? (actually isn't it a puff ball? not to easy to alter i would imagine)

i like number 2 aswell, possibly a bit to sexy for a wedding esp in black but like you said, nice bright shawl/scarf bag and shoes would look lovely, just depends if you want the men at the wedding to be alking to your face on not haha

number three is definately more wedding-y and if you are likely to wear it more than once (lovely summery dress!) definately better value for money!

sensible me says no three, the can't-say-no-to-myself me say NO1! NO1! NO1!

the first one is gorgeous but i would choose the third one for myself. i like colour and i would wear it more often

Hi Toryoaks; I went OH YA when I saw dress #1, dress #2 was very pretty but I'm not keen on fluffy ruffles, especially at the hem.

Dress #3 wouldn't even enter into the equation, but I really liked Flashy's choice as well.

Have someone take a picture of you when you go to the wedding so we can all enjoy your choice.

Do what I did recently - buy the dress you want, realise the night before just how inappropriate it is, and then borrow your sisters!!

I am in the same boat. can't finding anything in the shops and keep being outbid on ebay for dresses by like a pound. grrrrrrrrrrrrr. anyone got any ebay tips to stop this happening??!!

I love Karen Millan - dress number one is more unusual/original?stylish. No 2 is very attractive- its a style that looks and feels good. No 3 is ok - its pretty and you would wear it again. Go for the one you really like even if not too weddingy- you'll always feels great in it. I once brought a short karen millan for a summer ball- it was totally different to what everyone was wearing but it was a fab dress and I looked pretty cool(in my opinion) (great night too) I know weddings are a bit different with family and all- but you'll probably look great in all three. WHat do you think Trinny and Suzanna would say.

I love then all!!! Go with your instincts. I would personally pick no.3 as I wouldn't want to up-stage the bride and it is the more sensible option like you said. Lucky you being able to fit into all of them!!

If it were me i'd go for no. 2 or 3. The first dress is v pretty if you're a size 8 and 6' tall - I would look a complete t*t in it! I love the second dress and would try it but beware of ruffles! Although not my favourite dress 3 is probably the most appropriate. Keep us posted as to which one yoiu go for Zx

Number one looks young and girly. Are you? Number two is chic and totally wedding style in my opinion. Number three is hideous as regards the shape, and the colour...OMG. Certainly NOT for a wedding. Looks like a cleaning lady's overall to me.
Number four, OK I suppose if you are dark and easterly. For a red haired girl with creamy skin, forget it.

Guys - thank you so much for your help! I am still completely undecided re dresses so have taken tomorrow off am off down oxford street to hit all the shops....at least there are some benfits of living in london! am thinking that i will also check out Monsoon again, coast, mango and zara...
