From time to time, people tell me, “lighten up, it’s just a horse,” or,”that’s a lot of money for just a horse”. They don’t understand the distance travelled, the time spent, or the costs involved for “just a horse.” Some of my proudest moments have come about with “just a horse.” Many hours have passed and my only company was “just a horse,” but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by “just a horse,” and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of “just a horse” gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day. If you, too, think it’s “just a horse,” then you will probably understand phrases like “just a friend,” “just a sunrise,” or “just a promise.”
“Just a horse” brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. “Just a horse” brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of “just a horse” I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it’s not “just a horse” but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. “Just a horse” brings out what’s good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that it’s not “just a horse” but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being “just a woman.” So the next time you hear the phrase “just a horse” just smile, because they “just” don’t understand.
just read this and think it's really sweet. thwyre not just horses they're angels sent to us to make our lifes easier

That is really true. A horse is not "just a horse" but exactly what it says in that poem... an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. “Just a horse” brings out what’s good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I love my horse

Don't Cry For The Horses by Brenda Riley-Seymore
Don't cry for the horses That life has set free A million white horses Forever to be
Don't cry for the horses Now in God's hands As they dance and they prance To a heavenly band
They were ours as a gift But never to keep As they close their eyes Forever to sleep
Their spirits unbound On silver wings they fly A million white horses Against the blue sky
Look up into heaven You'll see them above The horses we lost The horses we loved
Manes and tails flowing They Gallop through time They were never yours They were never mine
Don't cry for the horses They will be back someday When our time has come They will show us the way
On silver wings they will lift us To the warmth of the sun When our life is over And eternity has begun
We will jump the sun And dance over the moon A Ballet of horses and riders on the winds to a heavenly tune
Do you hear that soft nicker Close to your ear? Don't cry for the horses Love the ones that are here
Don't cry for the horses Lift up your sad eyes Can't you see them As they fly by?
A million white horses Free from hunger and pain Their spirits set free Until we ride again

A Letter From Your Horse In Heaven
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say. But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay. I'm writing this from the Bridge. Here I dwell with God above. Here there's no more tears of sadness. Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you. It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on."
God gave me a list of things that he wished for me to do. And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight, God and I are closest to you...in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth and all those loving years, because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain. Remember there would be no flowers unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand. But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er. I'm closer to you now than I ever was before.
There are rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; But together we can do it by taking one day at a time. It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too; That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain; Then you can say to God at night, "My day was not in vain.". And now I am contented that my life was worthwhile. Knowing as I passed along I made somebody smile.
If you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low, Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go. When you're walking down the street with me on your mind, I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go from that body to be free, Remember you're not going...you're coming here to me.
I love this one always makes me cry To My Owner
My dear, sweet, loving owner You've been an honest friend And you don't know how much it means to me To have you here with me in the end.
I feel my time is growing short The pain is cutting like a knife Please don't feel guilty for your choice To lovingly end my life.
In this decision that you have made I ask that you not waver For in the end you're setting me free To live eternally with my Savior.
Run your hands lovingly through my mane And gently rub my belly Scratch my chest please, one last time I feel my eyes are getting heavy.
My life was long and full of hardship Until you came and rescued me You loved and cared for a forgotten horse, And for that unselfish service, forever grateful I shall be.
My body's getting weaker And my heartbeat now is slow But there's one more thing that I must say Sweet owner, before I go:
Though I leave this mortal world I will forever be with you I'll walk beside you every mile To prove that my love was true.
Know this, dear owner, that when the day comes And your time on earth is through I'll come for you, I'll lead you home And cross over that bridge with you.

Savkins, they were lovely - where do you find such things?
I started reading those, determined not to cry, but after a few lines my cheeks were wet and tears were already rolling down my face. The first one is really nice - made me cry but smile, and the second one was just a bawler!
I think its nice to know that no matter what happens, those we love/loved will remain with us forever, even if its in our hearts...

God Saw You
God saw you getting tired, And a cure was not to be, So He put his arms around you and whispered ,"Come with Me.".
With tearful eyes, we watched you suffer and saw you fade away. Although we could not bear to lose you, We could not bid you to stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working feet were laid to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
May I Go Now?
May I go now? Do you think the time is right? May I say goodbye to pain-filled days and endless lonely nights? I've lived my life and done my best, an example tried to be. So can I take that step beyond and set my spirit free?
I didn't want to go at first, I fought with all my might. But something seems to draw me now to a warm and loving light. I want to go. I really do. It's difficult to stay. But I will try my best, I will, so I can live just one more day.
To give you time to care for me and share your love and fears. I know you're sad and afraid because I see your tears. I'll not be far, I promise that, and hope you'll always know that my spirit will be close to you wherever you may go.
Thank you so for loving me. You know I love you too. That's why it's hard to say goodbye and end this life with you. So hold me now just one more time and let me hear you say, because you care so much for me, you'll let me go today.
Susan A. Jackson

Same, but loved them all the same!
It's strange isn't it, how some things that make us sad can also make us happy at the same time???
I think my favourite one was the one that was a message from your horse saying that they're ok and that you did the right thing
