I'm sure I've already seen a post on here somewhere about thrush, recommending Milton sterilising fluid(?) but I just wondered how should it be applied/diluted?

1 third milton two thirds water. if the thrush is bad soak the foot in a bucket of it and scrub away with a tooth brush if the thrush is mild make sure the foot is clean and spray on getting all the gaps

Yes the 'thrush' thread is in Horsey faq's section. Good luck with the Milton , think milton will kill bacteria but isnt thrush a fungal infection? I'd be interested to know if it works.X

Ah, the delights of equine distal limb thrush! It can be baterial or fungal. So what works for one may not work for another. Saying that, a recommendation for something successful from someone in the same area as you might be the best way to go. As the infections can be passed on from horse to horse, they are often the same infection covering a large locality.

Its black and smelly but doesn't appear to be affecting her in anyway, its just making her frogs go weird and me feel ill when I pick her feet out!

After trying lots of different 'remedies', I'm finding that green oils is clearing Warrior's stubborn thrush.

yeh as spotti said it stinks, and when you pick the feet out you will get a black gunky stuff from down the sides of the frog, really bad cases the frog will become softer and become a bit mis-shapen

I foud peroxide good too but was told by my EP that it also kills off the top good layer of cells leaving a perfect place for the thrush to re grow.
I have started using Life Data Hoof Disinfectant which is working nicely, well my EP was happy saturday
