i have decided that i want to get into eventing when im older so did a bit of research and i cant believe the costs  how do you all manage? i worked out it will cost me about 215 quid for the first year and 181 to renew just for membership!!!! then its costs of entries lorry lessons etc looks like im gonna have to find a rich bloke or win the lottery! ;D |

yep sounds about right lol eventing is bloody expensive but you don't have to do affiliated - big scary fences i like the idea of finding a rich man i'll do you a deal you find a rich man and make sure he has a brother for me  |

i know defo not gonna start eventing on tabs as shes getting on abit now so it will be on the nxt horse so theres that aswell

if you got one to train though might be cheaper.
i can't on my mare she has a back hock and she's kinda deranged, she'd be more interested in spooking at birds and butterflys than doing dressage or jumping lol

oh thats just the start of it!!
fuel costs, tack, equipment, training, entry fees, first aid costs, shoeing etc etc etc!!
but boy is it worth it! the buzz of finishing a cross country course is priceless!

Sometimes its best not to work out the costs.
This season it will cost approx £110 every time I event (BE). That doesn't include membership.
Then theres training which cost around £65 per session. Currently have both dressage and SJ lessons once every 3 weeks.
Oh and the cost of running my horsebox. £2,000 per annum plus fuel.
Anyone for hacking?

even local prices are going up here - £8 for one showjumping class, and £11 for a XC round!!
find a local job for weekends if you're still at school or college, spend only what you need and stick the rest in a good bank account- i got 50 quid interest the other week!

Sorry going back to costs - a couple of woman on our livery yard event and I'm amazed at how much they pay for just one event. And what's scary is the fact that even at local riding club level entry fees are going up!
