this is a bad pic I know, but look in the background and you will see...traffic cones!!! "find" some "abandoned" and claim them, cut a L shape out of the top and hey presto! great wings for an easy cross pole or like I have used, a little spread!

Also, if you want to put some fight-factor in, a chunk or tarpulin under a simple jump will make a 'water jump' Also someone on here mentioned an old towel laid over a jump to make a little filler!

DIY - I'm still waiting 1 year on for the OH to make some fillers I gave up waiting for my OH to make me some. I told him i was gonna be an independant woman and make my own thinking it would hurt his manly ego but it didn't! lol but i did get them done myself. Railway sleepers are good. pile em up and put a row of birch logs on top looks good. barrels, brush, Big fat logs. I did manage to get my Oh to lift some heavy logs the tree surgeon left behind into XC jumps for me and he mobbed the whole time it was gonna give him piles! hee hee hee

PolesRustic poles from timber merchants - 10-12ft long (you can paint them yourself if you want) Carpet roll inner tubes Drainpipes filled with sand Planks from timber merchants - 10-12ft long with sticky out bits added on so you can rest them on cups (flat cups for safety) StandsStraw bales buckets containers (filled with sand) tyres traffic cones (can get a council depot) beer barrels oil drums Or you could make some with planks of wood Buy some (classifieds) Cups can be made buy shaping blocks of wood into a shallow cup shape and nailing them onto the stand Planks and hanging fillers should rest on flat cups FillersConifer branch twig things stuck into straw bales to make a brush fence tyres propped against pole or threaded onto a pole traffic cones oil drums old doors woodem pallets (branches to make brush fence) TipsAlways make your fences wide and solid and use proper ground lines. Paint your jumps if they are left outside to prevent rotting When positioning you jumps always allow plenty of space for each approach and landing. GroundlinesTo help the pony judge the fence sixe and when to take off. Always have a pole lying at the base of your fence. Crosspoles have one end of a pole at each end of the jump so they have a ready made groundline. Out of my jumping book
