Not quite as good a day as we had last time but it certainly wasn't terrible either and a good learning curve for her.
We started out okay, she was a bit full of herself and tried to pull a bit early on when horses passed us, then she settled down nicely and then we hit a bridleway bridge!
She didn't like the look of it at all and didn't want to approach (it was quite wide with slated sides and felt very firm) so i got off to lead her (big mistake in hindsight), we got closer but didn't manage to cross until some other horses came to it and having seen them cross safely decided she'd brave it after all. She basically got in a tizz and couldn't settle and i couldn't get back on as i can't mount from the ground without the saddle going! There were a few benches near by but all across ditches with little bridges to get them to them so that ruled them out. Meanwhile another couple of groups passed by and she got quite bolshy so i had to abandon mounting and lead her a short while until she settled and realised they had gone and she was alone again. At which point she settled down, i got back on and the rest of the ride was great and pretty uneventful. She handled the road crossings and a small stretch of roadwork (which went over a bridge - she was a bit google eyed at the vehicles disappearing below us!) brilliantly and that had been bothering me as we don't do traffic/road riding.
Not the most scenic of routes in the vast majority of parts but pretty much all off road and well linked tracks. It'd be good to take her there again and re-tackle the bridge at some point as there is horse box friendly parking in a few spots according to the map.
