Had a lovely week off hacking pen out, we've continued to venture further afield and i think it's done our relationship the world of good. We've always got on but the riding's been very disjointed for health and weather reasons, so we've often stuck close to home and where it's 'safe'.
She loves going new places but at the same time is very spooky/eyes on stalks as she's still really green and is doing it all by herself but this week i really think we've started to trust one another a lot more. An idiotic old couple let their hyper dog run at her barking, TWICE, on Tuesday, she was scared and spun but considering was really well behaved and quickly stood and calmed, there's loads of tree work going on around the woods too, plus tourists with noisy kids so she's seeing much more than we do on the common usually.
I've found a site where you can roughly map your routes (i'm lucky as most of the forestry roads actually show on it but sadly not all routes do in large areas of off road paths as the track across from my house wouldn't work). It's quite useful, we've done a just over 5 miles ride on tues, a couple of miles last night (round the common so was surprised it was so far) and then about 6 1/2 today...and boy do my legs know about it! I also rode Harry yesterday to add to the ache but it shows pen's getting fitter.

There's a pleasure ride at Osberton in a couple of weeks that i'm planning on taking her to. They have said my oh can walk or bike with me, my only concern is it's a pony club thing with optional jumps. I know 20 odd years ago as a pc kid i'd have been razzing around so sensible head is wondering if it's not as an ideal introduction to riding in company as it initially sounds? Thoughts?
