After our big tumble last Sunday I realised that I needed to get back in the jumping saddle very quickly or it might never happen ... So yesterday I asked my coach to turn my usual lesson into a jumping session, just a confidence builder, nothing taxing. And that's what we did. We were both amazed that Paco showed no hesitation at all, we thought he might be a bit scared to jump again but he seemed to be his usual self. We started off with a little cross pole, went up to a small vertical and even worked over a blue half barrel (Sam's absolute nightmare!) but Paco wasn't fazed by any of it. Mind you, quite a few times he didn't make much of an effort either. He's never been a brilliant jumper and seems to think that if he can't be bothered he can always go right through, even though I was getting the right canter approach this time. But the session was all about me really. I am not going to claim I was brilliant as jumping really isn't my thing but I was more in my place, my legs more stable (the right saddle helps - although now I've tried my coach's ..... ) I now have to go back to the TREC PTV and nail the log jump that caused the problem. I'm not ready yet - partly because I have lost confidence in Paco. But sooner or later I WILL go and nail it! There will be a vid soon (as soon as the T has sorted it) Sam was taking on a big jump to build his confidence too, to prove to him that he can do it. And yes, he can!

Well here's the vid. My jumps are titchy and you can see that I am stiff and tense ... but it's a first step. Again. Sigh.

looks a great progressive jumping session. Paco is quite funny, he does the least he can. Poor Sam and the blue barrel. Wonder why he is so scared. Ive just got 4 to use as wings- he would be heartbroken!

Not Paco's favourite thing in the world but he is obliging. Sam seems a baby still with his technique. Such an honest boy though. That blue barrel obviously looked like a row of knives to him!
