I think Welly is starting to understand what schooling is about. He no longer poops himself when we go in the school and he is now ok with the whip (he was very jumpy and scared at first) and understands its use. He is not as heavy on the leg so Im not going to have to resort to spurs, and he is starting to make a consistent shape and work through his back.
Ive booked a riding club lesson with him tonight- his first-eek!

Good boy Welly. Always a challenge changing long standing habits. It's why your youngsters will be easier eventually as they learn the right way from the beginning.

Thats kind Sol, but not so sure with Harriet. She was very obedient as a first year horse but her subsequent lay off and being ridden by J has completely thrown a spanner in the works. She rushes off with me at the slightest inclination and her left canter transition is so hit and miss. Im starting to get there but whereas I was lining her up for her first dressage just before Ireland but now it will be some time. Think I will get there with Welly first which given his way of going was unthinkable.
