Had such a good lesson yesterday, the ol' boy was doing some awesome counter canter which made me smile hugely as I remembered how he couldn't even strike off consistently in left lead not that long ago! He has made such brilliant progress, especially for an old rando horse. My new hacking buddy now comes over for a lesson with my coach and as 'payment' for using my arena she brought over a load of things she'd sorted out from her tack room, including two very nice rugs - just the right size for my boys! - as well as various sheets, boots and some studs - great for Sam now he is shod. Then she offered us the 3/4 jumps she no longer uses, just the chandeliers (side bits?) and I was happy to buy some bars .... but then my coach offered to lend us nine bars that she doesn't use until next summer. Yay! Looks like we'll be doing quite a bit of jumping!

Paco is a super boy, i'm sure he just likes to keep you on your toes!
Your new hacking buddy sounds nice, that's the sort of payment i like and very exciting to get some jumps. I've seen some fab fillers made by cutting down and painting pallets and just popping some legs on to stand them up from the left over bits! A project for the hubby!?

gosh- thats thoughtful. lots of fun to be had. Hows the arena settling? Pretty well now, Brig. The OH has been brilliant and used chicken wire to hold the banks that were slipping and with a bit of grass growing down them they seem to be stablising. I now need to regularly pick out the stones that are working their way to the surface and then plant the idea in the OH's head that I could do with a bit more sand on top .... But if I am honest, it is perfectly useable and I am really grateful for it.
