Today I went on my first pleasure ride with M - have been on a couple before several years ago but it was a bit hairy back then! Anyway, my friend said she would give me a lift which was handy and turned out a good job due to the car parking! We've had this planned for weeks now and luckily he has recovered from his abcess in time to do it, although i have been worrying non stop about if he will be ok to do the ride, and all the what ifs going round my head, even though owner happy enough! I think its just after all the issues the past year ive gotten a bit paranoid and worrying about little things! Today was good to get out though because once we get out to a few things then ill start to relax! Im a worrier at heart! I hoped i would be chilled enough to enjoy the ride and i did for the most part except on stonier paths when i worried about the hoof with the putty in it and then grassy bits in case there was a random hole to trip in - im just a wreck at the minute lol! However, all was good and the putty lived to see another day! - it had hardened a good bit anyway being in the dry stable last night - i had wanted him to be able to have a nap and be well rested (as he normally lives out) - im a nutter!!
Anyway, we initially couldnt find the entrance to the venue and when we did finally arrive (we followed a horse lorry as there was no sign!) it turned out the 'car park' was a farmyard and you sort of had to wiggle into a space anywhere among the buildings! Had a fabulous ride, murphy absolutely loved it, he was well fit for it and was perky the whole way round which must have been nearing 10 miles. We had some canters and he went like a tank, i could hardly get him pulled up most of the time. He was well mannered on the whole and we had some nice plods along on the buckle and he was always up for a trot, didnt even have to ask him! All that roadwork and hacking has been worth it!
Got a lovely rosette on our return as a souvenir and after we got the horses sorted had a picnic! Weather was kind, it was quite humid (18c) and rain stayed away but didnt have too much bother with flies thankfully!
Now to plan next outing - will hopefully get a few pics soon!
