Yup, it's officially a heatwave and we're on water alert too but we'd booked the XC course and I wanted to keep the momentum going.... So we set off at crack of dawn and were on the course before it got impossible. For once Paco had no objections to going through the pond! He was awesome - really going at the jumps at a good XC canter and making some good, long jumps. I had decided I would have a go at everything my coach suggested for me and that's exactly what I did. We sailed over a larger than normal chapeau de gandarme - a jump (in this case several logs) on top of a hillock, which sort of terrifies me as you can't see the ground on the other side as it falls away, but it went very well, the boy didn't even look at it and made me feel very safe. The my coach asked me if I'd like to have a go at a 'grand contre bas' (big jump down) or whether it would stress me. I said it would but I'd do it anyway. So we went thundering over a box jump and then towards the slope and up and .... into the air ... and dooooooown ... and away we went on the other side. I was so pleased. I found I need to work on combinations though as I can drop him in front of the second element. I worked on bringing him back and squashing him so that he had enough bounce as he can go very flat otherwise. I chose not to do a full course at the end, Paco felt tired and I certainly was drained by the heat so we called it a day. But I really enjoyed myself PS there should be pix eventually ....

They are great pics and he makes lovely shapes with his hind legs. It does look hot though, bet you were drained!
