Pen's face is just about, superficially at least, healed now so it's back to work. I did ride her once a few weeks back but shortly afterwards, despite a lovely ride, just wasn't 100% sure she was ready so we left her again. Took her out last night and i know it was the right thing now. Despite doing nothing since back in April, bar that one day, we went out alone last night and had a lovely plod around the common. She was as cool and calm as you could wish for, did the gate (now mended) in and out without a second thought (and i'll admit i was nervous of this, my Oh came last time and did it for me), she also took very little notice of the longhorns, who were, as ever, lurking in the heather and laid down on the fence line concealed by undergrowth. I get such good vibes about this pony, she's just a sweetheart! Here's her face now, i cannot believe how well it has healed, i don't think it will be noticeable when she gets her beard and whiskers fully back. Attachments:

It took me a while to work out what bit of Pen that was a photo of! Got it now I agree, I don't think you'll see it at all. It's great to hear you're back onboard after such a torrid time.

Gosh that's really neat! So glad you are back on board - and what a star she is to be so cool out on her own for the first time in months!

looks great that- only you will notice it and it will be part of her tapestry with you. It took Harriet ages to recover from the nail in the foot incident, because they hide pain well we tend to think they are ok when in fact they are still just managing- both Harriet and Brig have taught me this so you were completely right not to rush things- as you've said, you knew when it was time and its proved the case. Looking forward to your progress- you will have some lovely times together.
