Strange how life works ....
In a break from the horrendous storms we have been having (hot + monsoon
) I took Paco out for a 'trotting' on the lanes yesterday as the ground is now too deep. Just round the corner I bumped into a man on foot accompanying a woman (my age) on a big ginger horse. We chatted and it turned out she was riding for the first time in a year after a nasty fall and subsequent loss of confidence.
I joined them for the rest of their hack and we agreed that it would be fun to buddy up from time to time as she lives pretty close to me. Her horse - an anglo-arab - is a former competition horse and (ginger mare!) a bit fizzy. Not sure how adventurous she will be but it could be great to go out with someone sometimes - not all the time as I don't want P to lose the good habit of solo hacking.
Anyhoo, going to her house for tea/wine this afternoon.
