Was at the RS on sunday for bhs riding training. RI says i collapse at the waist particularly on bigger horses so wanted me to practice on them, so i decided to take a big horse to the showjumping in the afternoon as well as good practice for the jumping section of the exam. all 16.3/17hh of him!!
Anyway, its actually extremely difficult to ride a big horse like that when you are used to a pony - boy did i feel the burn!
Decided to do the 65cm for practice on riding a course, was a bit nervous as havent rode this horse let alone jumped him in about 2 years or more and he can feel strong and have a bit of a pop in him - however, i stayed in control and he wasnt as bouncy as i remembered!!
Had a great round and despite getting a bit close to a few and having a bit of a scramble (should have kicked on but he just was so big he covered the ground so quick!) we had a double clear and kept the canter the whole way round, plus i remembered to check and change my canter leads! so all good!
Was going to do the 80 as was going so well but decided against it as my legs were wrecked and i didnt want to be dead for my lesson with murphy - another comp next week so will do it then!!
A few pics in the pic gallery!

Well done FB! I admire your determination to improve and get out there. I hope your legs weren't too sore earlier in the week!

Well done- I know what you mean about needing to kick on when you are on a big striding horse- I used to feel I was in a wind tunnel on Basil yet any video footage showed I was crawling!
