I know you guys are in for a heatwave next week - so are we. It's forecast to be least 35C upwards. We haven't had any rain for weeks either so the ground is hard. Not sure what I can do for the boys - but they have lots of shade - and I'll be riding at about 6am to beat the heat. At least we have an outing to a 10km beach on the Camargue planned for this Wednesday - assuming I get my pick-up back from the garage in time Will you be managing your horses differently during the heat?

I'm with FB on this one . They're saying 20 degrees which isn't enough for me to change my routine TBH. If it got warmer then I'd avoid the middle of the day, but in general I keep an eye on Indio's breathing and sweating anyway. He's also on more salt now as we're doing more work and it's (slowly) getting warmer. I've increased my Pringle intake for the same reason

A better day here than yesterday, which had gales and rain, it was like the middle of winter! Today there's some sun and less rain and wind!

Been lovely here last few days. Got floss, harriet and Welly in at night but all out during day. Not too many flies yet but have put face masks on. Not seen a clegg yet. Hope they aren't as bad as last year!

We've got the full armoury of flies: moucherons, which form clouds around their ears although the masks are brilliant (never see the point of them without ear covers?) taons, the size of small airships, and bot flies in record numbers. Haven't seen any mouches plates yet (flat, triangular flies, don't know what they are in UK) But it has been so hot and sticky I'm not surprised

Great, just when I have to put poor Paco in the trailer for a long trip it is heading up to 39C and looks like it will stay there for a while. Hopefully it will feel a little fresher in the mountains of the Ardeche ....

Hope it cools down for you rac. It's roasting here today, 30 degrees my car says and i just passed a lovely bay being driven down the road at a very fast trot and sweated to the eyeballs. Poor thing.
And no didn't look like what you'd expect/might be thinking either, very smart carriage driving type and well presented, not a cob/pacer and carriage looked like the driving trials type with a groom stood on back for balancing. It just seemed a bit unfair, especially the pace it was going...here's me thinking it's too hot now to even go for a plod this evening!
