Its been a while, I would grab a brew and get settled
I think any of you who "know" me will know I change my mind more times than most people change their pants. Savs has been going so well and looks so well that I've brought her back into light work and she's as happy as a pig in sugar, a complete change from last year when she was not wanting to do anything. I've changed her feeding slightly and she's on top of the world so *fingers crossed* hacking is on the cards this year as she's on a lovely farm with mile after mile of beautiful bridleway all leading towards a great beach, just need to get her over her pathlogical fear of daffodils . We won't be able to do much as her bad leg does have a habit of swelling with too much work but I can get back on my nag! I'm using her to build my confidence for getting on my little man who is coming on so well.
Onto him. I've moved him from the tiddlers paddock upto where we keep the big guns so Rosie can have some space to get better - more on that soon. He plodded down the road in rush hour like a beach donkey only stopping to be a nosy parker at one of the houses, the lady sells cards by the roadside and he clearly wanted to pick one for his mummy (yes he calls me mummy, no its not weird). We wandered up the field track at a snails pace and I put him away and he settled like he had never been away. I have no idea where my stressy agressive little pony went but I am loving his replacement. I've also done so much overtime in the last month I have enough to buy him his own saddle so he doesn't have to share with William anymore.
Onto Rosie, the poor little devil had a virus towards the end of February, she seemed to recover well but then lost 1/2 her body weight in a matter of weeks. After every test under the sun it seems that she has a horrible worm infestation, shocking because one thing the mother is obsessive about is worming and if anything we've probably over done it, which begs the question was she wormed when she spent two years as a companion. On vets advice she's currently eating a Shire's portion of feed everyday and has as much hay as it is possible to eat and the weight is going on slowly but surely. She looks well apart from the weight loss and she's as bouncy and lovely as ever. Chip is playing nursemaid and keeping her quiet, we moved Rupes out so he wouldn't chase her around.
William is coming along well, he adores my mother and she assures me he is a lovely pony. I however have not experienced this, he has taken quite a disliking to me and has repeatedly attacked me, if it wasn't for Sunshine defending me I would not be able to write this, I would be in hospital or the mortuary and thats not being dramatic, the attacks are full of intent, I just wish I could work out why. What we are going to do with him I have no idea because he can't go anywhere while he's attacking people but we can't keep him for another winter, ideas on a postcard please.
Chip is in training to be a therapy pony. If you didn't know I am now a support worker for people with learning disabilities and all of the service users I work with adore horses but are unable to ride. We are using him as a petting pony and he loves it. He gets groomed and fed carrots, he's in his element really.
Brax is still an angel in pony form. Daints is ready to ride, eeeeek. Sunshine is busy being a defender of his big sis and putting William in his place
Homemade cake and tea for anyone who got through all that. Phew.
