Yup, the unthinkable: I forgot my test.
Got there in plenty of time and got P plaited up and went into the manege to warm up only to be told they were running up to 20 minutes late. So I walked him round and then, 15 minutes before I was due in by the new time, started his warm up, did a couple of nice lateral exercises .... only to be suddenly called to the gate. Just a quick canter strike off and that was it.
He was pretty good at going into the arena, he looked askance at the white boards but I walked him close to them down to present myself and he was OK.
Then we went in and he was a bit reluctant but OK but it was fine. Then, as though I was waking up from a dream I suddenly thought: where am I? What am I doing? I saw the gate and thought I was at the wrong end. I was really lost. Anyway, picked up something akin to the test but my concentration had gone and I was utterly rubbish. Poor old P did his best but I wasn't with him, I wasn't thinking about how I was riding, I just wanted to get to the end.
I ended up with a score of 58%. The funny thing was the the first scores were pretty good and after getting lost there were also mostly sevens and an eight but my riding scores were terrible. My hands were everywhere, my legs were all over the place and I was bouncing like a rubber ball (no rising trot allowed here) so I got two sixes, two fives and two fours for riding. Shame on me. That is definitely where work is needed.
The good thing is that Paco was good And someone's else's coach came up to me afterwards and commiserated, saying bad luck, she'd been watching P during his warm-up and he was going beautifully.
So a bit bloody but unbowed.
