photogenic horses

I have been trying to get a decent pic of Floss for ages. She is one of those mares that move beautifully so a video is gorgeous but stills just don't capture how she appears in the flesh. All I can say is that she will make one ugly dead horse (only joking) however today I finally managed to get a half decent one and with the help of a Living Social picture offer can complete my black and white floating picture display of my horses.

I started thinking of how horses like people either are or aren't photogenic. Of mine, Basil isn't- I got one or two but his features don't really do, Harriet is both stills and video- it must be the angles...... Toudle just looks gorgeous on pics- his big eyes and flared nostrils make him look super cute and handsome at the same time. Frank could pull faces but took some stunners.I mainly prefer black and white pics but Frank was the only one who took good coloured pics. The only decent one I have of Sam was one when he was with the teenager at the job from hell in the North. Not sure if I took it as I was saying goodbye or the teenager sent it. But he looks lovely.

How does your horse do?

Harry is very photogenic, usually manages to look decent and if the sun is shining his summer coat can appear very golden. Like me Murph and Pen, especially when ridden, more often than not look like donkeys, pulling faces, moving at the split second it takes so pose is awkward, poking noses or opening mouths as it's took...you get the picture!

Savs, Rupes and Chip are our photogenic ones, they look better in pictures than they do in real life. Rosie always looks as ugly as sin in photos but is gorgeous in real life. Daints and Brax always look ill, they aren't. Sunshine looks like the scruffy oik that he is. Billy looks OK body wise but his eyes look slightly evil, he isn't.

I don't think photos really represent horses somehow. Or people.

AJ loves the camera and always shows off but Tordi never looks so great; usually covered in poo and mud

Pocholo looks good if he isn't looking at the camera - if you try to get him to look he just pulls a face as he realises you're not holding food! He generally looks good in ridden photos as he tends to have his ears pricked.

Indio is too dork-ish to be photogenic Though he also can look good ridden as he holds himself well and pricks his ears. Tercera was average though my stepdad got some stunning ones of her loose in the area. Capitan is an ugly duckling so I don't take photos of him!! And Galeno is more cute in photos than handsome but he's not bad. Cantinero is a bit of a stunner, probably as he has all that testosterone still!!

This was taken by a professional photographer which I do think makes a difference. Having said that he is gorgeous isn't he? Biased? me? Course not!

Chompy, if you get the right angle and his is in a good mood he can look quite handsome

Dexter I think would look good, but has he slobs around the field I don't actually have many of him

MY Oh def takes better pics than me, here's a couple I really like of Harry when he's shining in the sun. In reality he's had one bath in about last 5 years!

My lot (with the exception of Sam) don't take good pix. Paco is at his best when he's showing off in the field, doing his L'Oreal moment with his long mane, otherwise he puts his ears back when you point a camera at him, the grumpy old toad. Dr Evil makes faces and Rac, well, let's not go there.
