Took Brave to a working hunter type show jumping today, jumped him in the 55 cm and 65cm. In the 55cm he left everything up but did a massive spook which nearly unseated me at some painted sheep, by the time I had my stirrups back and circled to the fence again we were way off the optimum time, so didn't place in that class. Did jump a joker fence (10cm higher than the others with two potted trees as fillers with the width of a horse to jump through)
In the 65cm all the fillers went in including Hay racks, model trains planted with flowers, tiger traps etc. Two fences were on sharp angles right up against the arena fence so you either had to jump them at a 45 degree angle or jump and turn in one stride. So the course was tricky. Brave had got over his fear of painted sheep and we jumped clear (including the joker again) but we were once again too slow incurring 8 time penalties.
As it was threatening to snow and I had things I needed to do at home so left before the end of the class, just seen the results to discover I won the class. I have owned Brave now for 7 years and this is our very first red rosette in a jumping class. Feeling very chuffed.
