Wish i had some photos or a video as it was just amazing!
Me and a girl from riding club went to a go as you please at a local venue on Saturday past - Murphy was a good boy as usual and there was a mixture of jumps on lanes and in open spaces and a couple of water jumps, ditches and drops and i had a go at most stuff - some of the stuff was a bit out of my depth as they would hold eventing ireland competitions there a few times a year - eg huge big brush fence, bounce over a ditch and out over another brush fence, or random angled skinny hedges/logs leading to drops into water etc! I dont think id ever have any ambition to do all that, im happy enough galloping and jumping in a straight line lol!!
Anyway there was a massive flat field at the end about a mile long and we cantered along the edge of it for a bit - the horses were both quite strong although no messing and i felt a bit nervous and was glad to get pulled up! But my friend suggested having a gallop and apprehensively agreed, we went out into the middle of the field and just let them have their head and to be honest it was a complete relief just to let him go like the clappers! Such a smile on my face, it was so much fun! Had to have a repeat performance back down the field after that, Murphy was loving it!
So there you go, had my first gallop on murphy! Will have to get a beach trip organised over the winter now!
Have got a XC and galloping itch still so im going to another go as you please this saturday - exciting!!

Nothing better than a good gallop! I can never decide which bit I like the best: is it e speed? The sound of hooves thundering on the ground? Or maybe the fact that - for a good gallop anyway - you have to completely trust your horse and just let them go... Actually, I think it's all of those things combined which create that inevitable "I've just had a mad gallop on my horse" grin :-D I'm going to be so jealous of your beach ride - it's somethign I've always wanted to do with Faith but highly doubt I'll get the chance since she doesn't really 'do' loading . Hmm, maybe one day when I can drive her myself [no pressure then ]

I think it's that you can feel the horse step up a gear and it's not because it's being asked to do some work, it's just flat out, head out, never mind outline stuff, just go for it ........

I just love the speed! and for a little pony god Rosie can shift!
I was fascinated by Rosie's legs yesterday, watching her move while I was on twilight it was just lovely to watch, but that's why I love watching racing just to watch the horse's legs move.
My dream job would of been a flat jockey but sadly when I actually thought about it I was too old and would of have to give up Rose for a while and it just wouldn't of worked.
