Bit of a joke really as I hate showing but decided to take Harriet to one for the exposure. She was failry good to plait up, bit fidgety for the forelock but my friend arrived at a timely moment so got sorted. She looked gorgeous and won her first ever class- best condition. She was so well behaved a bit impatient standing about but we were very pleased with the result. I under-dressed as it was really hot and the standing about got to us both. For the next class she went a bit flat on me and despite doing some lovely trot earlier decided trotting towards some large charolais cows on the far side of the hedge wasnt her thing. The judge commiserated with me, and explained that the timing of the cows had been my undoing! We came fourth. We then went for a quick bacon sandwich and Im afraid the lure of a good cup of tea took its toll as I missed the Championship- which was a shame as we beat the horse that won in the condition class. I then put her a saddle on and had a ride about the show field, her first ever public ride; she behaved impeccably. I was so pleased, we boxed up and came home very happy as the exposure had been the name of the game. Will post a pic of Harriet looking very pleased with her rosette! www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152482805999690&set=pcb.10152482812409690&type=1&theaterwww.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152482805619690&set=pcb.10152482812409690&type=1&theater

That's fantastic Brig - so fantastic that I wonder why it's the last show?

Ditto rac! Sounds like a great outing - the picnics and socialising are the best part! Well done!

Showing really isnt my thing! I may do some ridden showing later as part of her education but I cant stand the faff and the politics and the hanging around- Id rather be a judge or a steward, and this is where it gets really wierd- I really dislike rosettes! I think they are ugly dust gathering monstrosities so have never chased them! So kinda defeats the purpose???

Well done on your first and last show!! I took my girls to a show last weekend, they got a 3rd and a forth. I can't believe how much work it is - I'm still off work on maternity at the moment so had time but how do working families do it. It's all a bit serious I think for me.
