Looking forward to Aug 15 (which is a bank holiday here) when there is a night competition at Sam's favourite club (He likes the very smooth posh sand in the arenas! We like the very warm welcome from the owner and pretty slick organisation.) The first class starts at 8pm and they will go on under floodlights until the early hours. We are intending to camp - yes, in tents!!!!! Me, in a tent!!!!! I am a cursed camper. Everyone knows it. The teenager will do two classes with Sam. Some of our team are doing it too and I am being nagged to have a go at Club 4 - it's only 65cm but I just don't know .... I haven't even got a competition licence (it only involves getting a medical certificate and I have to get that done for the new season in September anyway.) But do I have the courage? I just don't know. Still it'll be fun either way.

oooh- how exciting- love it when Sam competes- how's his training coming on? And you know you have the courage, so if its your thing-do it! Have they stabling for the horses or do you just electric corral them? Sounds tremendous fun!

That sounds like good fun. I'm assuming that being at night and camping there's some decent food and wine involved too...?! I think I'm a tad obsessed with food and wine, and horses

Sounds great craic! At least it will be warm enough for camping!
Rac, go on give it a go and have a laugh! Is there a smaller class than 65? If so you could do two classes as well, do the smaller class to get you going and then do the 65 - you're well fit for it!

No Flea, 65cm is the smallest I think as much as anything, I'm daunted by the fact I have to go and get a med cert, just silly really but there you are. I might man up. Pboy, you'd like southern France then. Food, wine and horses are a natural fit! No French person would consider just grabbing a supermarket sandwich! At competitions we put out tables and chairs and share - if you didn't have time to make something there is always a snack bar selling BBQ stuff - steak, sausages, merguez - and wonderful proper French fires - thin and salty - too! Obviously there is also wine on offer and I think during the night comp they will be doing brisk trade! Brig, Sam is coming on very well, albeit not intensively over the summer a s this is our 'off' season. She's been trying to work on his trot, which is still choppy. His jumping is lovely though.

I know what you mean, pity you can't just decide on the night to throw him on the box and go. Still I suppose even if you have the medical cert you're not forced to go anyway so by having it you have the choice.
I have to say I love a good picnic at a show! But ours usually consist of homemade ham sandwiches, tea out of a flask, a wee bun/packet of crisps lol! French picnics sound amazing!

Well, I've manned up and go my med cert and I'm officially signed up to do the Club 4. Decided that I'm a long time dead so I may as well live a little!
