Finally manned up and decided to take P out on his first solo hack from the new house. Dunno why I'd been putting it off. Perhaps because we've been going out with the teenager so much ....
Anyway, after one quick protest in the field, he was an angel. One or two moments when he thought about napping but I was too quick for him (YAY!) and he was great. Even had the luxury of fresh strawberries - me not P! I stopped to ask a man tending his veg patch if there was a way around a big vineyard and he insisted on filling my fists with strawberries from his plot. They were fabulous! So nice I didn't give P any, even though he deserved some! And it was getting terribly hot too.
Just did a 'fat hour' as they say here, on a circuit we've more or less done before so no nasty surprises but he was my lovely old Paco, not even bothering about all the tractors we met. Love that old chap
