So Saturday was our first outing with the team. Was a lovely venue, nice and quiet and not overbearing like I dreaded it might be. I was very jittery as on Wednesday I had a lesson and Eddie was being a total monster. If she had fingers, she would have been sticking them up at both me and instructor J. Got to the point where even J agreed we weren't getting any decent work today so lets call it a day. She offered to ride her on Friday to try and knock her back into shape! Report I got back was 'Eddie was determined to be an bottom, she didn't bank on me being an even bigger one!' Apparently a few 'conversations' were had and Eddie was reminded to make her choices wisely!!
Anyway, got on on Saturday and her little chat had clearly worked. Eddie was a dream. Soft, flexible, transitions were spot on. My pony was back! I then made an error as it was so hot in the indoor warmup, I didn't want to overcook her so we went for a wander outside but still had 15 mins or so before our test. Team were plying me with Cava all the while lol.
Finally was able to go in. Eddie got a bit distracted by the horses in field next door but was OK and it took her a while to get her focus back after her little break. I am slightly miffed at myself that I played it a little safe and didn't push her enough which resulted in her going a little flat and her head was a wee bit too high. We fell into sync towards the end but Intro A's such a short test, it was over before we'd barely started. Managed to get a couple of 7's but mainly 6.5's and one 5.5.
Finished with a score of 62.17% which isn't bad for our first 'affiliated' test but a little disappointing (though totally my fault). We weren't placed individually but team came 5th overall which means we get points still so good result.
It was a lovely day out - we took a picnic and made a day of it - highly recommend to anyone able to get a team together. There was a side saddle team, RDA had a team there, really good fun for everyone.
So we had fun and didn't disgrace ourselves! Next outing in July so have a few weeks to get some more schooling in. Need to keep reminding myself that 2 months ago I wouldn't have contemplated schooling in the snaffle so really she's doing just fab. Then next aim to work on wall of death canter!!
