My old ladies are now happily ensconced in their field shelter. Fluffy, Daisy, Snowflake and Diamond(My boy named them) seem to be settling in and nibbled a bit of sugar beet and haylage. Poor Harriet nearly died, Basil didnt notice them and Toudle and Frank looked suprised but not too concerned. will get some pics. GladI didnt go for anything too big, we carried them from the trailer! Attachments:

Hi Brig, I tried to view your sheep but the page is unavailable. It is facebook I see so maybe your security settings are not allowing people who are not your facebook friends to see it? See what other Paddocks members say? Glad to hear the Good Life plan is going well. Love the idea of sheep, cleansing the pasture - nothing better to get rid of or prevent ragwort!! Our neighbours have chickens and occasionally we get eggs handed through from them. Delish, nothing like a newly laid egg is thre? OH grows some green veg, e.g broad and runner beans and peas and also broccoli and carrots, and apples pears and damsons on his fruit trees. Not a serious attempt at self sufficiency but nice to see things growing. And we had a beehive in the loft space which the bee keeper could not reach so I fear they all died. It wasn't intentional of course, and heck knows why they took up residence in our roof..........

Aww, I love Soay sheep. Really glad you didn't choose Kerry Hills...every one of those I've met have been evil! They turn and stomp and then charge! Met a really mean Southdown too many years ago. His name was Frodo. Evil little (actually, quite huge for a ram) bugger he was! My favourite sheep are definitely Soays. Or...erm...the really long haired fluffy ones...would take a lot of looking after but the ones I've met have had nice temperaments.

Horse licks can kill them apparently??
I chose Soay because they are small, have handles and shed their fleece rather than needing a shear. they can be lively and dont flock making herding them an issue but my plan is to get them used to feeding from a handheld bucket andthen hopefully they will follow me.They are eating from my hand already. Very cute.

I was wondering if she was maybe snowflake, they're coming round ever so quick. I think it's the copper in equine licks thats bad for sheep. I use to have to be careful when the shepherd chucked any with mine but he's retired now so only the Jacobs on the common these days. They are quite similar looking to yours just skewbald.

Ah, they are lovely!!! I'd love some sheep and chickens. Especially chickens if we ever move to Spain - they keep the scorpions away!
