Curious to find out how everyone transports their saddle/bridle when taking their horse out in the trailer. have been putting it in the boot/back seat as best I can but bit worried it might get scuffed considering its not mine. Have heard you can get a locker thing for Ifor Williams trailers but not sure if its worth getting?

I have a tack store in my trailer but frankly, I wouldn't bother buying one. I rarely use it: the saddles are a tight fit and then there's little room for anything else. I usually prefer to put everything on the back seat of the truck. You could buy a saddle carrying bag to protect it if you're worried - a lot cheaper! I have a lot of ( ) soft rubber buckets that I use for transporting stuff around, that way nothing gets lost. And I have them in alarming colours so I know if I lend a bucket to someone I can identify it if it doesn't come back!!!

Thanks for the reply rac, never thought of the saddle carrying bag actually, that might be a good option actually. Any other thoughts welcome

Bags a good idea. I don't take mine out with a trailer but i travel my tack every time i ride, it just gets chucked in boot and now i don't have an estate anymore one saddle has to sit on back seat. Works fine for me but i can see your concerns with it being someone else's. My bridles/breastplate/knee boots etc are all in a big eco bag which also just gets chucked in. Your sharer is lucky to have someone so considerate.

I just have mine on the back seat wrapped in an old bed sheet, it protects the saddle and stops hair getting everywhere. Bridle dangles on the cantle to try and retain some shape. Boots, headcollars etc go in a bag in the boot.

I have the ifor tack pack - like marmite you love them or hate them. I'm in the love camp, with careful packing I get two saddles, two bridles, two lots of body armour, 8 boots (horse), whips and hats in. and various brushes and other bits and pieces.
Basically everything bar the buckets and water. and my long boots (seeing as I struggle to drive in them)

I hated the saddle store in my trailer- complete waste of time, despite its design, bits of hay would still find its way in so I was forever brushing it off. It was a tight fit too, Im not patient enough to pack carefully!

LOL Brig we are of one mind and since my trailer was once yours, it's no surprise!!!! LOVE love love the trailer though. And was even thinking yesterday that now I've got pretty confident with it, I'm not sure I'd swap it for a lorry.

I was thinking that if I couldnt find a lorry I liked I would buy another CL to tide me over- lovely trailers. Did I tell you my farmer friend bought one also? She loves it, hers is a bit newer and has the split partition which helps with unloading, possibly the only thing I would have changed about yours.

I don't know how big your boot is but I use a stubbs saddle mate in the boot, saddle on top and bridle and other bits inside. Keeps everything tidy but more importantly your saddle safe, I did find I had to attatch a non slip mat to the saddle mate to stop it sliding off round corners but then it worked great.I bought this from a pound shop in the motoring section I think.

thanks everyone!
ernieburt - that sounds a good idea, would probably only fit in the back seat though as boot is very small (short wheelbase jeep) will check it out though, thanks!
