tabby gets really excited at shows and she is ok until the group canter then she loses it and goes mental! she has covers the ground really well and i have to keep on overtaking everyone then she wont settle and is really tense in her individual show what should i do also im not sure whether to change bits as she gets really strong. at home she is ridden in a snaffle but at shows she is ridden in a pelham and i think that makes her more tense

Do you ride her at home in the pelham? Don't overtake people as that's a bit rude. Try really using the corners, that should slow her down a bit, or circle away from the others, again helping with control. It would be worth schooling her at home on the grass with the Pelham, then it won't be such a change at a show. Failing that, if she works well at home in a snaffle, why not show her in a snaffle too. Pelhams are good, but If we get a bit tense so will the horse. Good luck with your showing. ;D

As slinky said, its not polite to overtake other people in the ring. It might be worth riding her at home in the pelham instead of just saving it for shows.
I have the same prob with my horse. He'd get really wound up & would throw his toys out of the pram & be an idiot in the line up (always wanted to stand facing the other way), wouldn't stand for the judge & jogged & pranced in the individual show. Last couple of shows we've been to, I've given him some Oxyshot & I've had some rescue remedy & we've both been really calm, even when other horses have gone on a bucking frenzy past us!

thanx i have tried riding her in the pelham for a few days before the show and i have been having tons of rescue remedy. dont really want to ride her in a pelham all the time as i think she will just get used to that then i wont have control when the show comes. might give oxyshot a go tho!
