Despite being dosed with the cold, me and dad both, we headed off to a dressage and show jumping competition hosted by the local pony club. Weather forecast wasn't looking too good, gales and rain but it wasn't too windy and the rain held off till we were finishing up around lunchtime. My dressage time wasn't until 12:30 so did the jumping first. There were only three classes - 50-60, 85-90, 1m-1m10 so I decided to do the smallest class as its my first time jumping him away from home and thought 90 might be pushing it a bit lol!
He was great, lovely and calm and just really fun :-) the arena at the venue is huge and as soon as we went in he felt like a different pony, so light and forward. It felt faster than we normally jump but it didn't feel out of control or scary and it actually looked quite slow on the video lol! Just need to do more jumping away from home to get used to riding on a bit really, arena at yard is quite small for jumping.
Had a wee break and then did the dressage, don't think he was that excited about it but we gave it a go! He felt quite slow and not bending in the corners etc but it was OK, at least I remembered it because there was a lot in the test lol!
So was quite surprised to find I came 5th in the class and judge said the test was very accurate and smooth! So chuffed as it was a big class and especially after the last dressage comp I did, it was a real bonus. Unfortunately they only did rosettes down to fourth but I got a rosette for my double clear in the jumping so I can at least commemorate the day!
Me and dad had a wee picnic in the car after which was great, can't beat a nice cup of tea on a soggy day! :-D
Hopefully videos to follow if I can figure out how to get them off the tablet!
Maltesers for reading, got them as a prize lol!!
