Well, best and worst ...
Went for a wonderful three-hour hack with the teenager and R. It was sunny and warmish and everything looked beautiful. Almost came a cropper though when P did his famous spin and sprint because a speedy cyclist came out of nowhere - I very nearly came out the side door!
Had some great canters and did some exploring on some tracks through the garrigue, trying hard not to scrape my new helmet on the low branches.
On the way back we stopped in a grassy field for the teenager to school R a bit (I couldn't be bothered I'm afraid ) and R threw a very big tantrum. The teenagr was asking him to canter on his difficult side and to pick up the contact etc etc, all the things R can't stand. So he threw a monumental fit and finally managed to throw her off to the side but in order to do so almost went down himself - I thought he was going to squash her. He managed to save himself but stood on her instead, but not hard and she was unhurt. Dodgy moment when she didn't move though, but she was just getting her breath.
Luckily R didn't run home but cantered off into another field but then realised that Paco was not following so he stopped still, untangled his feet from his reins (clever little sh¡t) and allowed me and P to catch him.
Teenager unfazed, got back on, made R do a short amount of proper work and then we headed home, going straight up the very steep side of the hill to punish him. Paco didn't mind. He's fitter than I thought.
Despite this, it was a great hack out!
PS Don't forget that R has had the full work-up, even bloods. He has nothing wrong with him. Except his toddler tantrums.
