Once gain my little pony has made me so proud of her. Yesterday the local RC held an arena eventing day. Said I'd take B (sharer) and her daughter to have a go and I could be proud mother on the sideline! B loves jumping but her daughter is only 11, only been riding for about 8 months and has only jumped on Eddie twice. So we said we'd see how we got on when we go there. T took her in the warm up - both me and B rather anxious as the other kids on their ponies bombed around the arena. I was praying that Eddie kept her cool. And she trotted around sweetly like a childs first pony! T popped her over the small jump and still she just trotted on a loose rein not once taking advantage of T. T decided she wanted to do the class on lead rein as it was so long - 16 jumps in all, a mix of showjumps and rustic. B set off and was pooped by fence 3!! So I took over. Eddie is a bit too quick and big to be a leadrein pony so we did hold her up somewhat! Finished off with T completing the last few fences on her own which she did brilliantly. I was so proud of both of them. I would never have said Eddie was suitable for a complete novice (while never nasty, she is a bit quick and can be strong) yet she seems to know that T needs extra care and really looks after her. It's lovely to watch and I think T will learn a lot riding a pony like Ed rather than the riding school kickalongs.

no wonder you are proud, genuine horses really do find that extra tolerance where needed!

No Flea I have decided not to bother putting myself through the stress of forcing myself to jump. I'm happy doing the things I enjoy with Ed. Her sharer is the opposite, not really into dressage or trec but loves jumping so Ed gets the best of both worlds. I love watching her jumping but didn't feel a single pang of 'I wish I was doing that'. When a fancy an adreniline rush I just go for a good gallop to blow away the cobwebs!

Gosh that's lovely of Ed, to look after the little girl like that. I let a novice have a go on Paco recently, thinking that he's pretty calm etc but he was a real sh!t, napping badly and being really bolshy.
