Took Oscar (new poochy - in case anyone missed his pics) out for a walk around part of the XC course at the yard this morning and thought I'd bring Faith along for the giggle...and do you know what? They were fantastic!!! Apart from the initial bark (more of a "oh my god, shes big" bark than a "grr I'm going to bite you" bark), Oscar was really good and respectful of Faith, and Faith was completely unphased by the fact that Oscar was bounding about like the puppy that he is, and aside from the occasional reminder from Faith to remind Oscar not to get under her feet (she sort of pulls a "grr" face with her ears back and head low...almost a threat tp bite but her teeth are nowhere to be seen), we had a really lovely walk. They acted as if they'd done it a million times before!!!
I really hope O doesn't turn out to be a backwards poochy like Faith is a backwards pony...being a superstar in the first place is awesome, but getting more of a loon as time goes on can be quite challenging!
Anyway, we had a nice walk this morning and few little races (F & Os idea!), and came back rather sweaty and muddy but all with big grins on our faces! Sadly don't have any pics as I was on my owm and was half expecting chaos, but after how well it has gone this morning, I'm thinking that we'll be going out for group walkies more often so I will try to remember my camera next time!!!

That's great news! It's lovely when you can mix pooches and ponies. Classy and Xasco (our dog) get on well and he trots along next to us. I'll never forget the time when I was 13 and tried to take our old retriever on a hack. I ended up having to tie my pony up with the dog lead while I went to retrieve the dog from someone's garden...she'd run off to chase their ducks

Lovely! I miss taking my dog out hacking but she's too old now.

I love having a dog out whilst hacking, and its fab for the horses, gets them used to unexpected rustles in the hedges etc, in fact Scruffy dog was always well behaved when he was with the horse but had a habit of running of if it was just me and him. I guessI didnt move fast enough or the horse was a better visual reference (or smelled more!)

Glad they seem to be getting on, Murph hates dogs without exception....Jade never quite learned to stay away despite several chases/bites!
