Bit of an admission this ....
I went down to the cut field just down from us yesterday with the intention of doing some schooling at last after about three months effectively off .... but when I got there I almost burst into tears. I just couldn't face it. I knew it would be hard and I could not summon up the motivation. So I let Paco put his head down and scoff while I tried to hold back the sobs for a good half hour. I eventually just went home, having done nothing. (I could see Paco thinking: hey, I like these outings!)
I manned up today and went down again. I thought: short and sweet is the key. We are both unfit so gently does it. Boy, it was hard. My left leg is jelly (this is the wrenched knee as opposed to the chopped liver knee) and it was incredibly hard holding P out on a circle - as soon as my inside hand opened he was dying to fall in. But we just did a little bit of work on a circle then a bit of lateral work and called it a day.
At least I have broken the gloomy spell.

your are only just back on board after two pretty nasty injuries, and as you would say to the rest of us, dont beat yourself up about it, riding is supposed to be fun.
If you are not out to impress anyone just enjoy a few rando's and glasses of wine to get back into the swing of it rather than schooling.
I strongly suspect that this meltdown was not because of the riding but of other stresses in your life at the moment. however you have let them out, they are gone and P got a great meal out of it.
