...for chopping off feathers!
Faith has mites and is really scabby (poor thing seems to have had them for a while but I never knew how bad the sores were until I decided to be nosey the other day).
I've bought her some Camrosa Ointment (which sounds like marvellous stuff for all sorts of BUT I need to chop off her feathers in order to get it directly onto her skin/scabs. Kind of sad about it tbh but needs must...hair grows back, right?!
Anywho, having surfed the web for recommemdations and reviews, I have narrowed the options down to a Wahl Avalon clipper, a Moser Avalon clipper (they are pretty much the same) or a Liveryman Element trimmer. I am open to other suggestions if anyone knows any better types?
I am torn between the Moser and the Element because the latter is literally half the price BUT its a trimmer not a clipper...there are reviews that the trimmer is ideal for feathers etc but will take a long time to clip a full horse (as they are only small) but then there are other reviews that say cob feathers are fiddly and need special blades...CONFUSED!!!
Ideally I would like something that will remove hairy legs (needs must at the mo) but be able to give faith a bib/trace/adapted irish clip soonish or early next summer...would the trimmer be up to this or do I really need a proper set of clippers?
Sorry for the rambling - I'm just confused and in need of someone to point me in the right direction! Dont want to buy something that won't be up to both jobs and have to buy both BUTAT THE SAME TIME I dont want to spend a fortune if.a cheaper option would suffice.
Argh is how I currently feel!!!
Ok, so just in case anyone wants to do some window shopping for me, heres my list of 'must haves':
*Quiet
*Ideally cordless
*Capable of getting through thick cob feathers
*Can also do small clip on body at a later date (on a medium density coat - shes not a mammoth but shes also not a fine coated TB)
*Budget of as little as possible but willing to stretch to about £150ish if the clipper/trimmer ticks all of the above boxes.
*Happy to have second hand so long as they work and don't need sharpening first (need to crack on with the trimming and treating asap as shes very sore )
So there we go, thats my complicated situation! Any suggestions? Or anyone fancy window shopping for me? Any hely MUCH MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!!
Double chocolate fudge cake and cream for anyone who is still following
