I had a very big turnaround to do between renters yesterday so started early by tackling the pool. Everyone thinks a pool is great but the work involved is enormous. So I was down there cleaning and checking Ph levels etc when my ankle turned over. What happened next would have been hilarious if I'd seen it on YBF - I always laugh like a drain when I see old bags hurting themselves .....
Not quite sure what happened exactly but I stumbled backwards, missed a small step and was really flailing by now. I crumpled and fell backwards into the pool. Hilarious. But I cracked my left kneecap on a stone step as I went in (and under, fully clothed, obviously). I managed to get back to the surface but was almost sick with the pain so had to crawl out and back up to the house, where I sobbed for quite a while.
It was a shocking accident as I realise just how lucky I was. If I'd hit my head (instead of my knee) on the way in I'd be dead - it takes 30 seconds to drown. There was no one about, no one was even up.
However, I think I have done something bad to my knee. I had to keep going yesterday obviously (and the apartment was a filthy mess
) )but it's still extremely painful and I can't walk properly as the pain is too great to bend it. Not sure if I can drive but I certainly can't ride.
Think a trip to A&E is in order but what a faffing waste of time
