So this weekend just gone saw me being groom for my friend who took her Haffy to the breed show at Warwick College. What an amazing weekend.
Quite bizarre seeing so many of the same breed in one place but amazed at the difference in shape, size and colour of all the Haffies.
We left early doors Friday to arrive in time for A's first class - matching Pairs which she did with Sara's (horse) daughter. The pair really were the spit of each other. First red rosette awarded to them both
Next was Intro A dressage. Poor A was sooo nervous. But they did brilliant and finished up 4th out of a big class of 25 or so. Put Sara to bed and enjoyed a nice glass of Pimms!
Saturday was the start of the breed classes. Sara was entered for Pre-veteran (15-18 yo's)in hand. The judges had flown in from Austria and there was some strong competition. So we were absolutely delighted when she was pulled in first. Second red. Meant our afternoon of relaxing was put on hold as she qualified for the championship. To which she took champion Tears were spilled by all. That night enjoyed a lovely BBQ dinner at the venue.
Sunday was the biggie - the Open Mares class. Sara was up against some of the countries best and was by far the oldest in class so we were thrilled when she was placed in 4th. Her daughter got first (and overall reserve supreme champ)
I was so pleased for my friend. A year ago this mare was a horror. Bolshy, a bucking nightmare and A was trying to sell up with confidence in tatters. After a change of yard and a new mentor she has really grown a partnership with her .
A fab weekend had by all.
