Hi there. Im wanting some advice. im taking my 5 year old mare for covering today and as i have worked on a foaling yard i wasn't a active part in there feeding etc. would anyone be able to give me some advice please. thank you xx

Sorry not much help from me as not had my own but when I worked on a yard years back, the in foal mares were just left out on good grass and bought in a couple of weeks prior to foaling. No different feeds etc

Feed as normal for the first 7 months, then change onto a good stud mix. Also lots of good grass. I did that bar the stud mix as they weren't about then, it was 22 years ago. I upped her feed and made sure she had a good supplement and she bloomed and bth mare and foal did well. If you are worried have a talk to the stud, they will give you lots of advice.
